The Centre is funded by the Local Authority and has a fully delegated budget. We provide quality nursery education for 202 children within our ground floor provision i.e. the nursery school and extended day provision on the first floor. The latter provides additional hours to support families who are in employment, training or who need their children to access before, after school or lunchtime provision.
This facility can be used to ensure their children maintain attendance and punctuality at the nursery school or infant school and supports parents working. There is a charge for this additional service. The extended provision provides 62 places for children, 46 full-time day-care and 16 places for extended school provision. We can provide for an extended number of child-care places, as families access care and education in a flexible manner. Day care is available up to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week for 51 weeks of the year. We have an onsite kitchen which has a 5 star rating from The Food Standards agency.
The Nursery School was inspected by Ofsted in December 2014. The school was described as 'an outstanding school'. Children make rapid progress in all areas of their learning regardless of their starting points. The staff have a very clear picture of this progress and use this information to help with planning. The day-care provision was inspected in February 2015, Ofsted commended the 'exceptionally high standard of care, guidance and support provided by the centre' The provision for helping children make a positive contribution was also described as 'outstanding'. Both reports can be viewed on the Ofsted website www.ofsted.gov.uk
