Closure of Children Centre Services at Washwood Heath

NEWS TO ALL PARENTS AND FAMILIES

Dear All,

The Nursery Provision for children 2 years to school age is NOT closing at Washwood Heath Nursery School nor at our Cloverlea site.

Sadly yesterday we heard that the Children’s Centre services that are delivered from Washwood Heath Nursery School will cease to have funding to run the valuable, integrated services that the community has accessed here over the last twenty five years.

Birmingham City Council has awarded the new Children’s Centre Contract to Spurgeons across the Hodge Hill District. Spurgeons propose to use Anthony Road Children’s Centre, Dyson Gardens, Kitts Green and Tame Valley.

This decision will directly impact on the all of the services running out of the Centre including:

  • Family support
  • Stay and Play
  • Parenting Groups
  • Book Start
  • All activities and events run within the centre and across the holiday periods

This may also affect some of the integrated work of partners:

  • Welfare Clinic
  • UCB
  • Parenting Support
  • Crèche

On Monday 19 June Birmingham City Council will be running a public consultation at

If you wish to retain services delivered from our Centre please engage in the consultation and speak to staff.

Can we reassure you again that the nursery provision for children 2 years to school age is NOT closing at Washwood Heath Nursery School nor at our Cloverlea site.
